Dubai is, one of the most leading tourist destinations not
only in United Arab Emirates but also in rest of Gulf countries, located on the
southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and emirate’s northern coastline
approximately only 16 m or 52 feet above at sea level. UAE was formed in 1971
from individual sheikdoms, it is a combination of seven states and Dubai is one
of them. It is the largest city in the United Arab Emirates.
UAE was ruled by United Kingdom from First World War to mid
20th century. At that time it was desert and Dubai travel was done
by camel. After independence, the production of oil was the major source of revenue
for Dubai which put UAE on road. But soon government realized that these
reserves are limited and they started to work on finding other sources. In
1980’s they focused on tourism, and started creating sources to pull the
tourists. After the valiant efforts of Dubai government, tourism has become the
major source of revenue while oil remained less than 5 percent. The western
style of business opportunity and its free zone clusters the Port Rashid, and
Jebel Ali attracts the tourists from whole the world. Today Dubai has emerged
as global city and business hub of the Middle East.
Till 1991 Dubai City had just one tall building and it was too
far from recent modern city but Dubai started some mega projects with many
innovative big construction projects to attract the world attention. Soon the
city of Dubai has become a symbol for its tall, and rise skyscrapers and now Dubai
has over 400 skyscrapers including world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa (also
known as Burj Duabi which was its old name). Dubai has some biggest architecture
such as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab (an underwater seven star hotel), The Dubai
Mall (largest shopping mall in the world), and Dubai Miracle Garden (a 72,000
square meter) which plays vital role in tourism and attracts millions of
visitors yearly.
In 2014 Dubai again pulled the world attention with construction
of artificial islands on the coast in the sea. The Dubai Islands are called as Palm
Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, The World, and The Universe. These Nakheel Islands were
constructed from sand by the Belgian company Jan De Nul with corporation of
Dutch company Van Oord. Dubai Island is one of the most popular, amazing, and
risky real-estate projects in the world. The Island is designed in the shape of
palm tree with outer lying islands around it including villas, hotels,
apartments, and numerous residences.
Today Dubai is the best city to spend your vacations and
enjoy the creations of human. The incredible blocks of office buildings, the
tall skyscrapers and easy accessible network of transportation including the
Metro, the plenty of world class hotels, and resorts have offered foreigner
