One of the most popular palaces in Europe the Palacio Real is also called Royal Palace located on the east of Madrid historic center, very near to Plaza de Espana (it is the Madrid’s largest and most popular square),  Spain. Palacio Real is an amazing building people can’t stop to say wow especially after adventuring inside beauty scattered everywhere in this huge complex. This impressive palace has more than 2000 rooms which invite to explore.

In 1734, on Christmas Eve when unfortunately the Royal Fortress burned down by a fire originating in the rooms, their king named Philips V immediately wanted to convert the building by a palace. He wanted a strong building so the limestone and granite was used to make palace fireproof. The whole structure was made with stones and bricks not wood, to keep the palace from fire. Work was started between 1738 and 1755 king established his residence there in 1764.

In 1764 the king Carlos III who was the King Philips V shifted himself into the new place. This Palacio Real remained residence of next upcoming Kings until 1931. Today a small Zarauela Palace (this building is a former hunting lodge outside Madrid) is the residence of royal family not the old Royal Palace. Rolyal Palace of Madrid is still used for only official ceremonies.
The design of new palace was given by an Italian architect Pilippo Juvarra. The Italian architect and Felipe V didn’t remain alive to see the completion of their massive construction. The huge palace covering as area of 135000m2 took 26 years to complete. While the decoration of 2800 rooms take another 100 years.

Interior of the Palacio Real (Royal Palace of Madrid) is spectacular. People access palace through a large plaza named de la Armeria. 50 rooms are open to the general public, but don’t worry tourists these are spectacular too. A huge number of antiques can be found throughout there, some of the master works by famous artist such as Velazquez, Tiepole, and Goya give the tourists a wow touch. The royal army museum is located at the west of the palace called Armeria Real. It is a room with unique collection of armory. The armor suit of Charles V is also hanged there.
The parks and gardens in the Palace is called Campo del Moro that starts from river Rio Manzanares to Royal Palace. Visitors often enjoy the spectacular view of palace from the lawn of the park.
The statues of King Philips IV can be seen in the square Plaza de Oriente, while sculpture of other kings and queens are fixed in the square too. These statues are very heavy and made of with limestone.
In the months of October to March the Royal Palace (Palacio Real) is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, while Sundays and other holidays the timing is 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In April to September the Palacio Real is open Monday to Sturday form 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, wile on holidays the timing is 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
